Synthesis

From Ardent Spacers Wiki

Chemical Synthesis tasks are visual puzzles where you overlay different Chemical shapes to recreate a larger image. Find new puzzles in the Kenolab or out in the world.

It is not possible to attempt to experimentally create new products; you must work from a pre-designed sheet.

Multiple solutions

There may be multiple ways to complete a puzzle, so if you don’t have all the Chemicals listed in an existing solution or want to try and make it more efficient, you are able to redo puzzles so long as you have the reference sheet. All crewmates are encouraged to record their findings in the Kenolab to prevent work being unnecessarily repeated.

Walkthrough

Synthesis #0000 Requirements: 4 Red Chemicals

Synthesis Sheet

Each Synthesis task begins with a Synthesis Sheet. This outlines the puzzle to complete, containing a diagram of the final product and a list of minimum requirements.

Experimenting

The chemicals you have to hand to recreate the image.

Gather your Chemicals and begin experimenting! Connect flat edges together to match up lines to the diagram on the sheet.

Layers

More complicated puzzles, such as this one, require you to layer Chemicals to get the correct image.

You can layer Chemicals up to create more complicated shapes so long as the structure you build with the tokens is physically stable. Translucent chemicals allow you to overlay lines and see the lines on the layers beneath, whereas Opaque ones will block the lines underneath and erase them from the solution. All colours of Chemicals used, even if blocked by Opaque tokens, count towards the requirements listed.

The first layer here is made entirely from opaque white pieces which are usually available from the Kenolab. The second layer is translucent red chemicals that you may need to source yourself from traders or exploration.

Solution

The finished product, perfectly recreating the target image.

When placed together, both layers overlap to create the required image. Each layer can be offset, but all pieces in a specific layer must fit flush together.

Each time you complete a Synthesis Sheet, you will gain one Product. Unless otherwise specified, sheets can be completed infinitely.
