Personal Health
Standard Characters
Each character begins with 3 Hit Points (these are tracked globally, not per location).
The standard Death Count is 60 seconds.
Cybernetics and Replacement Limbs
You are free to physrep as many cybernetics or replacement limbs as you like. These are biomech technology and do not grant any bonus against specific injuries or disease. Cybernetics you have purchased in game and have an effect will malfunction under the Static call but will still be able to operate as their designed limb.
It is presumed that the Ardent has sufficient supplies to regrow any lost limbs between events. For the remainder of the event, the patient would use a temporary cybernetic limb.
Alien Physiology
All aliens aboard the AES Ardent have comparable biologies and are comfortable in the same environments. Their organs may look different, but they’re all in roughly the same place and do roughly the same thing. Organs cannot be exchanged between different species.
Some aliens may have striking features, especially the Vari and Omdua, but these are mostly decorative and do not bestow any game benefit beyond looking cool.
We are open to the idea of adding some biological differences that affect surgeries at a future date once we’re happy with how the surgery mechanic is working. We do not wish for any playable species to have a major biological advantage in any way. We are trialling some basic differences with Blood Types.
Blood Types
Every character has a blood type which is randomly generated at character creation and listed on their ID. If they have a blood loss symptom, they will need a transfusion from a matching crewmate or from the medbay’s stock or a number of units stated after the symptom. Most alien blood is incompatible; follow the Blood Types guide to find out what you can transfuse.
If left untreated, BLOOD LOSS symptoms reduce by 1 Level overnight.
| Alien | Blood Types | Distribution | Colour | Custom Rules |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthroid | Biomech Fluid | All | Clear Red | BLOOD LOSS symptoms do not naturally reduce overnight. |
| Human | O | 50% | Red | Can receive O-Type Blood |
| A | 36% | Can receive O and A-Type Blood | ||
| B | 11% | Can receive O and B-Type Blood | ||
| AB | 3% | Can receive O, A, and B-Type Blood | ||
| Omdua | Substrate | Unique to Character | Crest Colour | Requires Omdua Substrate Synthesizer to prompt rapid Substrate production internally. |
| Skala | Type-I | Red, Orange, or Black scales | Light Red | Main scale colour, can change over time. Incorrect blood transfusion causes FATIGUE 3 and temporary shift in scale colour around the injection site. |
| Type-II | White, Blue, or Purple scales | Purple-Red | ||
| Type-III | Brown, Yellow, or Green scales | Yellow-Red | ||
| Tever | Tesoval | All | Orange-Red | Can consume TesoBar to convert 1 Level of BLOOD LOSS to FATIGUE. |
| Vari | Vas/Mus | All | Two liquids: Green-Red and Clear | Vas: vascular chlorocruorin, varies from green to red.
Mus: muscular hydraulia, clear. Both these liquids must be replenished simultaneously. |
