FABREP Crafting

From Ardent Spacers Wiki

Crafting at larps can feel like a vending machine, so we’re leaning into that!

Instead of spending time role-playing making basic items, players will be able to hand over materials to the fabrication lab in the A-COM Hub and come back later to receive their new things. It’s like 3D printing but much more advanced. Some items will be available quickly, others might take hours or days to complete.

The spaceship has a limited material storage that characters can purchase, and use of the lab has a small fee. If you already have the materials, you’ll just need to pay this small fee. Be warned – if everyone decides to suddenly buy a lot of metal from the ship, that will drain the ship’s supply and may have knock-on consequences (and new missions to go and find metal in the environment or broker trade deals with locals).

If there isn’t anyone in the FABREP lab, there will be an envelope drop-off to write your details and submit the right materials and money. It’ll be processed as soon as someone returns.

Crafting Items

You will require a Blueprint to craft an item. These are either stored on the Ardent’s system and freely available to all players, or discovered during missions. Blueprints are single use.

To craft an item, go to the FABREP lab and insert:

  • The Blueprint (if not on the system).
  • The materials listed.
  • A crafting form with your details on.

The FABREP takes time to work, as listed on the Blueprint. Return after that time to receive your item. Any items not received by the end of the event will be in your next event’s player pack.

For items available on the standard shop list, you may be given the item instantly if there is enough pre-made stock to hand.

Crafting Lists

Blueprints: Cybernetics

It is not currently possible to FABREP cybernetics.

Other Lists

As more items become available to craft, they'll be listed here.

Materials are represented by 1 inch resin blocks with different appearances. 1 block is 1 unit of a resource. They are currently being 3D modelled and a visual guide will be published before the event.

Obtaining Materials

Materials must be obtained during the event. They will be available in the environment or through trading with NPCs.

They are also purchasable from the Ardent at the event, however this will be at a very inflated rate. It is better to find them yourself or if the item is a standard shop item, it is better to pay in credits for the finished item.

Unknown Materials

You are likely to discover new materials of varying usefulness while on missions. These may be physrepped by props with a lammie attached (and follow Sample research rules), or if they are FABREP usable straight away they will be resin blocks.
